Richard & Judy Cartwright

Richard & Judy Cartwright

Judy was a navy brat with her roots in Tennessee, moving several times before ending up in Chula Vista, CA.   She went to Hilltop High School, and San Diego State University.   Richard (I) was born in San Diego and went to San Diego High School, San Diego City College, and San Diego State University, where Judy and I met.   I square danced when I was in 5th and 6th grade and enjoyed it very much. So when the kids were old enough (1991) we decided to give it a try.   The rest of the story is a natural progression from Square Dancing, to Round Dancing (1993) between Square Dance Tips, to becoming more and more involved in Round Dancing.   We have taken classes from almost all of the Round Dance instructors in the San Diego area.   This includes Bud Mighetto, Rey Garza, Bob & Jeanne Granger, Radka Sandeman, and Bill & Carol Goss.   We enjoy attending special dance events for the dancing and the camaraderie.   We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor.

Bill Hale & Jane Stokes

After much brow beating and coercion from his parents, Bill began square dancing in 1993.

Jane started square dancing is 1974 with the Tip Topers Square Dance club. Callers would sometimes teach one or two easy round dances - this sparked Jane's interest in round dancing. It wasn't until the 1980s that she had an opportunity to begin taking a round dance class from Hal and Dot Chambers.

Bill met his friend Jane Stokes at a square dance class. They began learning how to round dance from Judy Ballard (Eads) in 1994, and have attended classes with many of the San Diego teachers.

Bill began teaching with Judy Ballard (Eads) in 1995 and started cuing shortly after. Bill and Jane became partners in 1996.

Bill is retired from the automotive field and became the club cuer for Sundown Square when Judy Ballard (Eads) retired in 2003. Bill enjoys dancing, fishing, golf, and has a lifelong passion for football.

Bill & Jane very much enjoy introducing new dancers to round dancing.
